Dirty Roc Clean Roc

White is great colour for a car. It hides dirt well, and helps a car to look more or less the same unless you examine it closely.

Even white has its limits though, and being parked outdoors most of the time, this candy white Scirocco was reaching it.

It was brought in for a much-needed day at the Detail Lab spa, and after a number of hours of hard work, we're glad to have gotten it back to its original showroom shine.

Dupont PPS was layered on to deter road grime and other surface contaminants, allowing the owner to maintain the shine with weekly DIY car washes.

Two Wheeled KTM Detail

We always feel a rush of adrenaline working on something way out of the norm. This deafening monster bike was up next after the BMW X5, with a request for a total makeover!

KTM RC8s are extremely rare in Singapore and this was truly a sight to behold. Paintwork was special, with an interesting combination of high gloss clear-coated pearl orange as well as a semi-gloss orange finish as its livery.

Even though it was only six months old, this RC8 had been ridden hard, with road trips up North. We were dealing with dirt, road grime, and even dead bugs, so nothing short of the most thorough cleaning was needed to transform it.

Some "before" pics:

Fenders, mudguards, license plate holder, seat etc. were meticulously removed for a complete detailing and waxing session using the finest from Swissvax! The exhaust tip was polished to a shine, plastic trim was treated, and no detail was forgotten.

Sapphire Black BMW X5

Two day project on a sapphire black BMW X5 here at Detail Lab. Receiving the X5 in the rain revealed it had minimal paintwork protection, as the rainwater did not seem to bead off very well.

Plastic trimmings will turn greyish if not treated.
Working into the night on Day 1, we eradicated every pesky little swirl and hairline over multiple passes, and the end effect was a deeper gloss on the paintwork even before waxing.

For wax, we opted for Swissvax Mystery, applied by hand. This additional layer of carnauba enhanced the paintwork further, highlighting the metallic flake in the sapphire black.

Day 2 was reserved for final touch up and some basking in the sun, before the X5 was handed over with molten, mirror finish paintwork that was glossier and deeper than when it had arrived.
